We are recruiting for an Income Maximisation and Debt Foodbank Advisor to work in partnership with foodbanks and other community organisations to support individuals facing financial hardship. The successful candidate will work closely with foodbank users to address the financial challenges they face, resolve issues, and help them find sustainable solutions, ultimately empowering them to become financially inclusive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and casework support: Help foodbank users understand their debt options, navigate the benefits system, negotiate with creditors, and create manageable budgets.
- Maximise income: Work with individuals to access all available benefits, support them in applications and challenging decisions.
- Collaborate with local foodbanks: Co-locate and partner with foodbanks to deliver this financial inclusion project.
- Support volunteers and build community relationships: Mentor and support local volunteers, sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also building positive relationships within the community.
- Feed into social policy and build evidence: Contribute to the development of local and national social policy by gathering evidence of the impact of your work.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and support people from all backgrounds.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively and provide tailored advice and solutions.
- A passion for working with people and helping them overcome financial barriers.
- Knowledge of both debt and welfare law would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from candidates with advice backgrounds and a willingness to learn.
